What to do if your Residential assigned lot is full
Because Residential Assigned permits offer a guaranteed space 24/7, an unauthorized vehicle may be illegally occupying a space if your assigned lot reaches capacity.
- Do not park illegally: Avoid parking in fire lanes, unauthorized employee spaces, or designated disabled spaces without a valid placard.
- Contact UPD Dispatch immediately: Call Parking Dispatch at (512) 245-2805. An officer will direct you to temporary overflow parking, and a Parking Services Officer (PSO) will provide a courtesy ride to and from your vehicle in the meantime.
- Enforcement: Violators will be towed by a tow truck at their own expense.
Strict 24/7 Residential Assigned Restriction
Residential Assigned lots are restricted to Residential Assigned Permit holders assigned to that specific lot at all times (24/7).

Streamlined Parking. Zone-Based Choices.
Texas State University has implemented a simplified, campuswide parking permit system designed to provide clearer options, increased flexibility, and better alignment with student budgets.
Understanding the 2026-2027 Zone Framework
To maximize parking availability and prevent over-saturation in campus lots, permit purchases are organized into specific geographic and usage zones. Read below to understand how selection and limits work.
Pick Your Preferred Zone
Students will purchase a permit specifically in a zone of their choosing. You may select the zone closest to your residential hall neighborhood or typical daytime course buildings.
No Ideal Choice Guarantee
Students are not guaranteed permits in their zone of ideal choice due to limited physical parking capacity. If a zone reaches its capacity threshold, you must choose an alternative available zone.
First-Come, First-Served
All parking zone permits are released simultaneously. Allocation strictly operates on a first-come, first-served basis. We strongly advise secure submission early through your student account.
Motorcycle Permits
Motorcycle parking is available in many lots and garages on campus. A motorcycle permit lets you park in any all-zone MC parking areas.
Accessible Parking
Accessible parking is available with a state-issued Persons with a Disabilities Parking Placard / License Plate and a valid Texas State Parking permit
